A cardinality constraint limits the number of instances of an element that can exist in a given relationship in a clinical model - for example '0..1', '1..Many'.

--Stephen Chu 11 July 2012 It will be useful to articulate the relationship of "cardinality" with two other concepts: "obligation" and "occurrences". "Cardinality" encapsulates these two concepts.
