Definition: A model designed to support a specific technology implementation
Reference Definition: A PIM is a 'run-time' implementation-specific information model representation of a domain's data, organized in terms of entities/classes modeled as schemas (e.g., template) and specific relationships and is bound to a particular terminology and implementation technology. (HL7 SAIF-IF)
Reference Definition: A PSM combines the specifications in the PIM with the details required to stipulate how a system uses a particular type of platform. If the PSM does not include all of the details necessary to produce an implementation of that platform it is considered abstract (meaning that it relies on other explicit or implicit models which do contain the necessary details).
