Definition: A description (in SNOMED CT) is a term or name assigned to a particular concept, which has a unique identifier (i.e. the Description ID). Each concept may have multiple descriptions associated with it. Each description is either a Fully Specified Name (FSN) or a synonym. Synonyms may also be the Preferred Term (PT) of a concept in a particular realm.
