Abbreviation: CIM
Reference Definition: An abstract model focusing on the 'conceptual perspective'. CIMs may not define attributes and when they do, they do not define specific codes or code systems from which semantic types might originate. CIMs maintain maximal reuse capability. They allow a domain expert to provide requirements in their language and allow a terminologist, downstream in the development process, to assign appropriate value sets or code-system content to each abstract semantic type.
